Its signature line of straight bourbon whiskey, Tennessee High Malt, is made from four grains, including three select specialty malts. In March 2017, the company opened its second distillery in downtown Chattanooga, the Riverfront Distillery, transforming a historic car dealership into one of the largest craft bourbon distilleries in the South, with a dunnage-style heated barrelhouse with room to age more than 4,500 barrels of whiskey. In 2015, they released the first whiskey produced in Chattanooga in 100 years, Chattanooga Whiskey "100", and began crafting their malt-forward style of straight bourbon whiskey, Tennessee High Malt, which was released in August 2019, marking a new era in the company history. ![]() In March 2015, the company’s Experimental Distillery opened in the heart of downtown Chattanooga, which keeps over 100 different barrels in its aging cellar. Inspired by the city's rich distilling history, the two went on a mission to bring back "Whiskey to the People" and Hamilton County, and did not shy away from the battle to change the laws of their state in its pursuit. The classic soft palate has sweet vanilla and spicy cinnamon, culminating in a finish with lingering spice and oak notes. The Founder’s 10th Anniversary Blend is made up of three whiskey recipes distilled in both Chattanooga, Tennessee and Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and includes two Tennessee High Malt mash bills, known as Smoked and SB091. While eventually succeeded by Chattanooga’s own signature Barrel 91 recipe, the whiskey’s impact wasn’t forgotten. In the spring of 2012, Chattanooga Whiskey began blending and bottling 1816, a whiskey that Piersant explained “helped overturn century old distilling laws.” “We are not only celebrating 10 years of Chattanooga Whiskey,” Piersant said in a prepared statement, “but also celebrating the blending of the past, present, and future of Chattanooga Whiskey.” This whiskey, formulated by Chattanooga’s Founder and CEO Tim Piersant, marks a major milestone for the company.
